What shocks are on my Healey?
Austin Healey lever shocks (dampers) are easy. Let's lay it out:
1953 - 1967 your Austin Healey has these FRONT shocks:
- Part #: 6075, 8002
- Double arm
1953 - 1964 most Austin Healey's have these REAR shocks:
- Part #: 6076
- Single Arm (small body) up to chassis # 26704
- These early shocks have filler plug on side of the body
1964 - 1967 most Austin Healey's have these REAR shocks:
- Part #: 8188
- Single Arm (large body) after chassis # 26704
- These later shocks have filler plugs on the top cover
1957 - 1970 your Austin Healey Sprite (MG Midget) has these FRONT shocks:
- Part #: 5925
- Single Arm with cotter pin
- Sprite and Midget Only
1957 - 1970 your Austin Healey Sprite (MG Midget) has these REAR shocks:
- Part #: 8681
- Single Arm
- This later shock (above) has the filler plug on the body
- Early shocks have filler plug on the cover
- Early and Later shocks are interchangeable
NOTE: Just like all classic cars, there are some exceptions to the "rules" over the years. It is possible that your car does agree with these general guidelines. Rare exceptions do exist. The good news is that whatever you have on your car, we have in stock.
